FAQs on Hearing Aids, Hearing Loss, and Buying Hearing Devices

How long do the batteries last?
The life of a battery depends on the hearing aid. The battery for the hi ITC hearing aid lasts about 70 hours. The battery for the hi BTE mini hearing aid lasts about 85 hours. The hi BTE and hi BTE power hearing aids have a battery life of approximately 150 hours. To ensure you get the maximum life out of each battery, open the battery door on your hearing aid when you are not wearing it.
Where should I store my spare batteries?
To maximize battery life, store batteries at room temperature. Do not store your batteries in a hot or damp environment. It is not recommended to store your batteries in a refrigerator. Since contact with metal objects like keys or coins could short circuit the batteries, do not carry extra batteries in a purse or pocket.
How long do ear tubes and tips last?
If you have hi BTE mini or hi BTE aids, you should replace the ear tubes and tips every three months. People who generate more wax in their ears may want to consider replacing the ear tubes and tips more frequently to ensure the devices are working at the optimal performance level.
How long do wax guards last?
The hi ITC aid uses wax guards to protect the hearing aid from ear wax. It is recommended that they are replaced every month. People who generate a higher level of wax in their ears may want to consider replacing the wax guards more frequently to ensure the devices are working at the optimal performance level.
